Mission Statement

Myndflex’s mission is to empower students to thrive at school and in an increasingly multicultural society by: providing strong academic support, instilling appreciation for diverse world cultures, and contributing to their social-emotional wellness.

The founders of MyndFlex are united in their belief that children need to learn how to learn using a multisensory approach in combination with traditional classroom work. This helps children gain knowledge and master learning strategies to suit their own distinctive learning styles. They also develop positive social skills to thrive within the classroom and beyond. The founders also share a common passion for education and commitment to kids. They believe that each and every child is gifted and distinctive in their own way. Developing and improving self-confidence is vital to make students lifelong learners.

Discipline Policy

MyndFlex, Inc. staff, in their role of caring for children, model and teach appropriate behavior.   At MyndFlex, positive discipline is the responsibility of the staff.

  • MyndFlex, Inc. provides an environment where discipline occurs naturally  through a combination of continued support, setting limits, reminders, encouragement, and rewards.
  • Children differ widely and inappropriate behavior can be lessened  by the use of a range of guidance techniques. The most common methods used at MyndFlex are:
    1. Proactive reminders by Myndflex staff to follow rules and instructions.
    2. Diverting children and redirecting him/her to a new activity;
    3. Recalling rules to internalize positive behavior;
    4. Resolving conflicts by problem-solving and discussion; and,
    5. Students will be given 2 warnings and an appropriate consequence such as losing a few minutes of playtime.

Myndflex teachers go over the rules and classroom/playground expectations daily. Therefore, students know the drill and are well aware of the protocol.

  • In case of harm to self or others, action will be taken depending on the severity of the situation.
    1. Staff member will contact parents with written note, a phone call, or have an in-person conversation appraising parents of the situation.
    2. Directors may contact parents to set up a conference to discuss the situation.
    3. Parent may be called to pick-up the child early in extreme cases.
    4. Myndflex also reserves the right to suspend a student in very extreme cases.
  • Parents may be required to replace or repair equipment that is deliberately misused/destroyed
  • Group environments are not appropriate for all children.  In the event a child cannot benefit from our program, we reserve the right to recommend dismissal.
  • The MyndFlex discipline policy has been developed to give children the ability to learn, practice and exercise impulse control and self-control.  The result is a child with a positive image and one who gets along well with others.

Confidentiality

Parents: please rest assured that all information you provide in the registration forms or verbally will be kept confidential.

Suspension Policy

  • Suspension is a disciplinary action which excludes a child from the program for adjustment purposes.   A child will be suspended only when it is determined that the child’s presence causes a danger to persons  or property, or threatens disruption of the program.
  • MyndFlex, Inc. honors the School District’s suspension of a child.  Children who have been suspended from school may not attend MyndFlex, Inc. for the duration of the suspension.
  • Families are responsible for making other after school arrangements for periods of suspension. No credit is given for absences due to suspension.

Dismissal Policy

MyndFlex, Inc. reserves the right to terminate care of children whose behavior or emotional maturity is, in our judgment, unsuitable for our program. We feel with careful planning and preparation of activities, most discipline problems can be prevented at our end.  However, when there is sustained and regular disruptive or inappropriate conduct, MyndFlex reserves the right to terminate services. Grounds for termination include, but are not limited to:

  1. Behavior patterns, on behalf of the child, parent or guardian, that infringe upon the rights and safety of other children or staff members;
  2. Delinquent tuition
  3. Two weeks absence without notice
  4. Continued failure to follow any MyndFlex, Inc. policies or procedures

Withdrawal Policy

Parents can withdraw their child from MyndFlex by providing a written 2 week notice sent via email to myndflex.kids@gmail.com. No Exceptions!

Homework/Enrichment Policy

  1. As part of the daily schedule, a time is set aside for children to start their homework and enrichment work. This is usually from 3.45-5.45pm.
  2. Should a child not have assigned homework for a particular day, he/she will be encouraged to read quietly or participate in another productive activity during the scheduled homework session.
  3. It is the responsibility of the student to get the homework out and show the teachers. Teachers/aides will not get the homework out of the child’s school bag!
  4. The classroom teacher and aides will help students complete their homework in a timely manner.
  5. Answers will not be given to the students. The teacher will guide the students and      help them come up with solutions.
  6. If the student attends a workshop or another class during homework time at MyndFlex, homework may not be completed. Parents will need to ensure that homework is completed at home.
  7. If parents DO NOT want the child to complete homework at MyndFlex or have his/her homework corrected, then it is the responsibility of the parent to let the teacher know .

Homework Completion

  • Every effort will be made to have students complete their daily home-work during the stipulated time. However, due to various unavoidable reasons this is not always possible. The reasons may be and not limited to excess home-work, student’s individual speed and understanding of material, stipulated homework time not utilized to the maximum due to student conflict with other extra-curricular classes.
  • MyndFlex has a Staff:Student ratio of approximately 8-9 kids per teacher.  Teachers try their best to re-teach some concepts, but due to time limitation and group learning, it is not possible to offer individual attention and one-on-one learning.

Homework Accuracy

  • As per general district policy and also MyndFlex philosophy, our capable and qualified staff will guide students to work independently and enable them to arrive at correct answers/responses as opposed to giving them the answers. Student effort and critical thinking are vital for student success. For these reasons, MyndFlex staff will help the students to the maximum but cannot guarantee the accuracy of homework. You will be updated as needed by teachers if your student is struggling with one or more concepts.

Teacher/Student/Parent Responsibilities:

  • Teachers encourage students to start homework, stay on task and complete their homework in a timely manner.
  • Teachers supervise students at all times, and work hard to support them in completing their homework correctly, tidily, and in a timely manner.
  • If the student chooses to not work on his/her homework or does it in an unacceptable manner, and does not heed the teacher’s guidance, then the teachers will not be responsible for untidy, incomplete or incorrect work. Ultimately, it is the student’s responsibility to own his/her work.
  • Teachers will inform parents of any incomplete homework at the end of day.

Specific Parent Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that students have all their homework inside their folder before taking them home
  • Encourage children to bring all their homework to Myndflex.
  • Check the completed and incomplete homework at home
  • Discuss Myndflex rules with students at home on a regular basis and urge students to adhere to the rules.
  • Remind children to be respectful of adults and their fellow students
  • Avoid making individual requests of teachers for extra help or test-prep
  • Avoid making calls/texts to teacher with specific requests.
  • If your child needs to be released by us for an afterschool class/practice etc please send us in writing (email) to authorize your child’s release.

Myndflex will not release the child if we have not heard from you in writing prior to release.
